ART A ROAD TO PEACE

The association LLLS, Saudi Women for Peace and Dialogue through art is the first such organization in Europe. Our aim is to propmote peace by encouraging among various cultures and religions. We want to demonstrate the open mindedness of Moslems and Saudis contrary to the prevailing impression.

Art is a form of expression that reflects the human spirit of creation in given moment. The influence of the social-economic structures and spiritual tendencies of "that moment" also impact the individual creation which in itself portrays an objective given truth.

A truth that represents life as faithfully as possible, Ergo said: "Art is an integrated part of history" therefore, what a better roads towards understanding, dialogue and peace!

Based on this concept and personally involved in Art, Latifa Al-Sowayel founded the association LLLS which she acts as president. As pioneer of the first Saudi women association in France and Europe, she is aware of the broad responsibility of carrying out the task of peace making.

The main objective is to promote inter cultural dialogue through contemporary art in order to obtain a peaceful interaction and understanding among fellow Arabs and the other communities in the world through exhibitions, congresses, seminars, colloquiums.

It would be too ambitious to assume the responsibility of exploring of history of an art from ancient times to now. A job that is well engaged by museums, embassies and other distinguished institution throughout the world.

Therefore, as an initial phase the association LLLS intends to dedicate itself to the exposure & exchange of contemporary art in the Gulf, with special emphasis in the women's contribution, but with a complete openness to diversity as well as a great interest in integration.

LLLS is interested in all levels of communication, from sophisticated intellectual seminars and congresses at institutions like UNESCO and the Arab World institute to the rural (Banliue) community activities in France as well as other regions.

The issue of integration, diversity and therefore peace through art dialogue is one of maximum importance for LLLS. The role of France in this particular endeavor is outstanding. For this reason LLLS chose to stablish its foundation in France and from there to become a helping hand in a task of major importance to our world today.
